On Monday, 22 September 2014, as part of the 'Work and dialogue' series, Stephan Weil, the head of Lower Saxony's regional government, paid a visit to the Bruns plant nursery in Bad Zwischenahn.
After a warm welcome from Maria and Jan-Dieter Bruns, regional premier Weil was briefed on the various tasks in the plant nursery by business manager Johann Kerkhoff and, donning work clothing and safety shoes, got stuck into the task.
During the course of the work, regional premier Stephan Weil chatted to the employees to get a clearer idea of the horticultural profession.
Following the hands-on work in the plant nursery, the particular tasks to be carried out in a plant nursery and the different aspects of the industry were discussed over tea and freshly baked damson cake. Jan-Dieter Bruns had also invited the Cairman of the Weser-Ems Association of the Federation of German Plant Nurseries and the Vice President of the Federation of German Tree Nurseries, Hajo Hinrichs, to the occasion.
Regional premier Weil was a keen listener, actively involved in the discussion of the various topics. In relation to some of the points discussed, the regional premier asked for them to be submitted in writing as well to the Lower Saxony Chancellery
in order for them to be examined further.
In his farewells, Jan-Dieter Bruns also thanked Stephan Weil on behalf of the Ammerland plant nursery industry for his visit to Bad Zwischenahn, which had been an honour and a privilege for everyone.
